The 18-year-old, who spent time on loan with Met Police last season, finished the campaign on the substitutes bench for Town after Elliot Justham took over the gloves from Jonathan Mitchell when he was recalled by Derby County.

Speaking about the contract extension, Jones said: “He’s improved steadily and he’s an important one to have on the bench.

“We’ve bumped a lot of young ones up, given them a chance, shown faith in them,

“Craig has improved daily in training, and that’s why we’ve renewed his contract.

“He’s earned it, he’s a great kid, now he has to keep trying to develop, keep trying to get better and go from there.”
