Bedford went close to a equaliser, but they on level terms by the break with a close range finish.

Staples made another fine stop, while Rebecca Kane was brought down for a free kick that Carroll blasted against the bar.

In the second period, Jiminez moved into the centre of midfield, while Jess McKay went out to the right flank.

Eventually, the second goal came as Kane shrugged off two defenders and kept her composure to slot home.

Manager Baker said: “I am delighted with the girls commitment and effort. We played a tough formation on a big pitch and the wing backs really worked hard.

“We had players all over the place playing out of position and I couldn’t of asked for any more.

“Hollie was excellent in goal and made some crucial saves. It was nice to pick up three points after a recent run of losses and I hope we can take this into Sunday now.

“Thanks to Luton Town for hosting the game, was a great experience for the girls and nice to win here.”

Hatters travel to Enfield Town this weekend.
