Lions roar to treble

Crawley Green Lions completed an unprecedented treble with a 3-1 victory over rivals Bedford Panthers in the Chiltern Youth League U13 League Cup final at Sharpenhoe Road.

Having already been crowned Beds County Cup and Division One champions the Maroons claimed the final piece of the puzzle in an incredibly successful season.

Lions opened the scoring when Gulain Lusam finished into the bottom corner, before Panthers levelled.

Green retook the lead though when good interchange play on the flank involving Kai Reilly, Adam Hughes and Kyle Ajayi resulted in poacher William O’Leary coolly slotting home a deep cross at the far post.

The third goal arrived midway through the second half when Callum Black played a glorious diagonal ball into the left-hand channel and Lusambya used his strength to outmuscle the centre-back and roll the ball calmly across the six-yard box for the supporting Hughes to sidefoot home for 3-1.
