Loan signings will have to fit straight in for Luton

Any additions that Luton make during the loan window will have to be able to come straight into the first team according to boss Nathan Jones.

The Luton chief has borrowed Alan Sheehan from Bradford and Charlton striker Joe Pigott since taking over at Kenilworth Road, while Scott Griffiths has joined Woking on a temporary basis too.

With the loan window now open once more, when asked if there would be any further signings, Jones said: “We’re reasonably happy at the minute, we’d only bring in players that can improve our 11 or we feel can improve our 11.

“At the minute we’re doing okay, and we’re happy with what we have.

“Everyone’s contributing, we’ve got some real good competition, a few headaches now and again, with who to play, but that’s only healthy and we’re happy with that.

“We don’t envisage doing any business. If someone comes up that we feel that would really strengthen us then we’d look to do it, but at the minute, we’re quite happy with what we have.”

On how the squad have reacted to his arrival over a month ago, Jones continued: “They’ve been first class since day one when I came in and to be honest, they’re probably too competitive at times.

“They’re a great group, they’ve taken to me very well, everything I’ve asked them to do and demanded from them, they’ve given it.

“They’ve taken my attitude at times the right way, in terms of I can be quite full on and they’ve taken that superbly well and I’m very pleased with what we’ve done.

“The squad was constructed with quality in mind, we know it’s a big group that needs to be trimmed, but needs to be trimmed, not just in numbers, but we need to just make sure that we keep hold of the quality and those who are not quite going to take us forward, we’ll help on their way.”

Meanwhile, Jones is prepared to bide his time in his ongoing efforts to appoint a number two as he added: “It’s going to be a process because of certain things, but we’re happy at the minute.

“We’re not rushing into anything, we believe in the person that we want to get. That might take time, but we’re quite happy because we’re in no massive rush to get anyone in, we just want to get the right one in.”
