Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division: Dunstable Town 0 Biggleswade Town 2
Dunstable Town were well beaten by near neighbours Biggleswade Town at Creasey Park on Saturday.
With Zack Reynolds injured and Gedeon Okito completing his suspension, this meant starts for Jack Green and Luton Town U18 defender Harry Bean, as the hosts were under pressure early on, Jack Smith saving well and Adam Moussi heading off the line.
The visitors impressed through Rhys Hoenes, Gavin Hoyte and Craig Daniel, while Michael Richens fired wide too.
Hoenes had a blocked shot, as Dunstable’s best move came about from a good run from Vences Bola that was eventually cleared, before he also crossed for Josh Oyinsan to head straight at keeper Ian Brown.
Bola then lobbed over, with Blues keeper Jack Smith saving from Conner Hall and Daniel off target too, as Hall then blasted wastefully off target from Hoenes’ corner.
Oyinsan’s glancing header from another Talbot set-piece didn’t test Brown, while in the second period, the Waders led when Hoenes’ low cross was converted by skipper Daniel on 48 minutes.
Hoenes struck a free kick into the wall, as Dunstable’s only opportunity saw Bola’s cross-shot almost creep in.
However, with 13 minutes to go, Biggleswade secured the points when some poor defending was pounced upon by Luke Emery.
A late, meek shot from Bola typified the lack of punch from the hosts, while ex-Dunstable player Tony Burnett almost made it 3-0, with a thumping effort that struck the crossbar.
Dunstable host Stratford Town tomorrow night and then visit Leamington this weekend.
