Luton chief expecting a '˜cracking' clash with Doncaster

The Hatters head to the Keepmoat Stadium to face a team who have been in wonderful form this season, unbeaten on home soil and three points clear of nearest challengers Plymouth.

Jones, whose Town side dealt out one of Rovers’ six defeats this term, winning 3-1 at Kenilworth Road in September, believes his side can do the double over their opponents.

He said: “We’ve only played Doncaster once this year and we’ve beaten them.

“They’re in good form, we’re in good form, it’s going to be a cracking game.

“These are the games that you want, these are the games that define your season in terms of where you end up.

“Doncaster will be a very, very difficult side to play against, but I know that we are, because I see us more than I see any other side.

“We’re in good form and are going there to win the game, because that’s what we need to do.

“A draw’s better for Doncaster if you like than it is for us, but we’ll never go there to draw a game.

“It will be a tough game, and a tough team to beat, but we’ve done it once, so lets see if we can’t do it again.”

Rovers have a number of goal threats for Town to be wary of, none more so than former Millwall striker John Marquis, who has bagged 18 goals in the league alone this term.

Jones continued: “They’re a good side, they came down from League One last year and didn’t lose any of their good players.

“They added good ones in key areas, people like Tommy Rowe, people like John Marquis, coupled with Andy Williams and James Coppinger, who they had there already.

“So they have a real goal threat, but so do we. We’re in fine form and we love testing ourselves.

“We’ve a brave group, so I think it will be a wonderful game against a really difficult side.”

The Hatters boss wasn’t fazed by heading to the leaders either, as it’s games against the so-called lesser sides that have given him more cause for concern this season.

He added: “On Tuesday (against Hartlepool), that was the game I was more worried about, these games take care of themselves.

“Against the top two the motivation will be there, they will come out and try and win the game as well, so I envisage two good games (against Plymouth next week too).

“We know this game will take care of itself in terms of motivation levels, it’s just how we set up and what we go with and making sure they’re ready.”
