Luton keeper hoping to win contract at Leyton Orient or Swindon

Talented amateur footballer Adam Slater is hoping to win a professional playing contract with a Football League club.

The 17-year-old goalkeeper from Luton has been selected to take part in first-round trials that could lead to a deal.

He entered Samsung’s nationwide Win A Pro Contract competition in a bid to sign for Swindon Town or Leyton Orient.

Last year’s winner, Chris Smith, signed for Swindon in February and made his first team debut against Bradford in May.

Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio said: “The competition offers an amazing prize but it will not be an easy journey for the players.

“They will have to work very hard to earn a chance with Swindon Town.”

Orient manager Russell Slade added: “Becoming a professional footballer is a demanding process and this competition will be exactly that.”
