A helping Hand as Town snap up former Watford starlet Jamie

HATTERS have snapped up Hayes & Yeading captain Jamie Hand on loan until December with a view to a permanent move, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 27-year-old 6ft central midfielder, who played against Luton in the 2-2 draw last month, began his career at Watford, making over 50 appearances at Vicarage Road, and won Young Player of the Year in 2002-03.

From there he had several loan spells, before signing for Chester and then joining Lincoln City, until eventually ending up at Hayes & Yeading in August 2010 where he played almost 50 games.

Town boss Gary Brabin said: “Jamie showed in the game against us last month what a good player he is.

“He is an excellent passer of the ball and can break up play - he’s just what we’re looking for.

“He’s got great pedigree, is only 27 and has experience of playing at a much higher level.”

Hand will wear shirt number 27 and is available for selection for tomorrow’s clash with Darlington
