Ex-Hull City, Sheffield United and Reading manager Nigel Adkins has been made joint favourite with league sponsors SkyBet to become the new Luton Town manager.

The 55-year-old is currently without a club after leaving fellow Championship side Hull at the end of the last campaign, and was recently included in the running at 14/1 with former Luton defender Alan Sheehan.

He saw his odds shortened to 10/1 over the weekend, leapfrogging head of recruitment Mick Harford, who was named relationship manager between the board, staff and the playing squad on football matters once former Luton boss Graeme Jones had his contract cancelled by mutual consent last month.

However since then, Adkins has now moved level with previous favourite Nathan Jones at 1/1, even though Hatters chief executive Gary Sweet confirmed last week that Harford will take charge of the final nine games of the season, should they go ahead as planned starting next month.

Full list: Nathan Jones 1/1; Nigel Adkins 1/1; Mick Harford 12/1; Steve Rutter 16/1; Alan Sheehan 16/1; Gareth Ainsworth 16/1; Ian Evatt 16/1; Lee Carsley 16/1; Stephen Robinson 16/1; Andy Myers 18/1.
