AFC Wimbledon snap up former Luton striker Cornick
Attacker joins League One rivals on a one-year deal
Former Luton striker Harry Cornick has signed for Town’s League One rivals AFC Wimbledon on a deal to the end of the season.
The 31-year-old moved to Kenilworth Road in 2017 after spending four years with AFC Bournemouth, as he went on to score 38 goals and add 31 assists during his 235 appearances for the Hatters, scoring a crucial goal in the 1-1 draw at Leeds United as Luton managed their Great Escape from relegation to League One in July 2020.
He then headed to Bristol City for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day in January 2023, but struggled to really get going at Ashton Gate, scoring just five times in 68 outings, making a loan move to Stevenage in January. Unfortunately for Cornick he then saw his season ended by a serious ankle injury when scoring his only Boro goal on his eighth appearance, as he was released by the Robins in the summer.

The attacker has now agreed to move to the Dons, where he will join up with another ex-Hatter in Zack Nelson, and speaking to the club’s official website, said: "I'm delighted to get the move done and excited to get started and help the team achieve what they want to this season. They've got a really good group of lads and can hopefully can keep kicking on. I had a really good experience at Luton, they kept improving at a good rate. It was good to learn how to get promoted and what it takes to be a successful team.”
Manager Johnnie Jackson stated about his latest addition: "Harry's a player that I've long admired. He's had a good career. He's been part of some really successful teams at this level - thinking back to his Luton team that he went through the leagues with and was a really big part of. He's obviously had a difficult season last season with the injury that he picked up. But I think he's still at an age where we feel like we can get him firing. He can be a big player for us."
Director of Football Craig Cope added: "Harry joins Wimbledon with a good pedigree at the level and higher, he will be a strong addition to our attacking ranks and valuable to the changing room. We are confident we can provide Harry with the platform to get more appearances under his belt following a stop-start couple of seasons, as we have done before."
