All the odds as Hatters visit Norwich

The News/Gazette BetVictor column

The FA Cup fourth round takes centre stage this weekend with the Hatters making the trip to Norfolk to face Premier League outfit Norwich City, writes Charlie McCann.

The Canaries were thrashed 5-0 at Anfield last weekend and are likely to make changes but with home advantage they are 1/3 with the draw 9/2 and Luton 17/2.

One thing’s for sure it would be a great result for the bookmakers if Paul Buckle’s men can get at least a replay although that would further congest a very busy programme in the weeks to come.

Norwich have only taken one point from a possible 18 in the Premier League of late and their sole win during 2013 was their defeat of Peterborough in the FA Cup.

The loss of the fixture with Lincoln on Tuesday night at least allows manager Paul Buckle more preparation time and backed by a 4,000 strong army of fans it promises to be a fantastic day out. With the prospect of playing at least 23 games in 12 weeks a draw would not be welcome although the financial director might not agree.

Luton remain 7500/1 for the Cup and after Bradford’s heroics midweek lightning couldn’t strike twice could it?

Town are back in cup action on Tuesday when they visit Grimsby Town in the FA Trophy before embarking on a run of seven League games in February.

Forest Green, Newport and Mansfield all have to play at Kenilworth Road and we should know more about the destination of the Conference title by the end of February.

All sixteen FA Vase ties were lost to the weather last weekend so Ampthill will try again this Saturday when they entertain Enfield and are slight favourites at 6/5 with the Essex Senior League outfit 7/4 and the draw 5/2.

We offer Ampthill at 50/1 and Enfield at 66/1 in the outright market which is still dominated by the North East clubs; Spennymoor remain undefeated in the Northern League and are hot favourites at 7/4 to lift the Trophy.

The incentive for both clubs at the weekend is a fifth round home tie with either AFC Emley or Hadleigh and the draw is certainly opening up for Town; that 50/1 could look very big come Saturday evening with a trip to Wembley a distinct possibility.
