All the odds as Hatters visit Southend

Ahead of Town’s trip to Southend this weekend the Hatters’ are 13/8 at BetVictor to finish the season in the play-off places.

With Plymouth entertaining bottom-of-the-table Tranmere Rovers at the same time, one would imagine that John Still will imagine his side must get at least a point against Southend who have won their last six and not conceded a goal in over ten-and-a-half hours of football.

Southend manager Phil Brown has been rallying his own troops for Saturday’s game describing it as a cup final and his side are currently 4/7 to be playing League One football next term.

Southend are 4/5 to keep all three points with the draw 11/4 and the Hatters 4/1.

Last weekend’s 3-0 home win against Hartlepool has given Town a chance but the fact that it was their first at home since they beat Accrington Stanley back in February suggests what might have been.

John Still’s side won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in October when Brown suggested his side ‘didn’t turn up.’

Southend trail Wycombe (H Morecambe) only on goal difference for that final automatic spot.

I don’t expect to see many goals in a tight, tense encounter and two or fewer goals at 4/6 is the recommended bet.

The Hatters must give themselves a realistic chance of finishing in the play-off positions ahead of next weekend’s visit of Stevenage; that could be some atmosphere.
