ATHLETICS: Bakare stays on British Futures Programme

Luton athlete Sabrina Bakare has been named on the British Athletics Futures Programme once more.

The 18-year-old, who won IAAF World Youth Championships gold in the 400m in 2013, had been chosen for the first time last season for the scheme which focuses on athletes who show the potential to ultimately achieve future success at major events.

On hearing the news, Bakare tweeted: “Really pleased and grateful for staying on Futures for 2014/15 with Jane Dixon.

“Thank you so much Brit Athletics for the support.”

Coach Jane Dixon added: “Sabrina and I are delighted, to be once again included in the British Athletics Futures programme.

“We really benefited from their support last year, and hope to gain from the experience again this year.”
