Barton denied by late Ducks leveller

A LATE equaliser denied Barton Rovers all three points as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Aylesbury in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central on Tuesday night.

Rovers put themselves in the driving seat when Ricky Case gave them the lead five minutes into the second half.

But they were thwarted by Daniel Parsons’ leveller seven minutes from time.

Manager Dan Kennoy said: “Last night’s result was a little disappointing as we were comfortable at 1-0 and a great strike from distance stole all three points from us with seven minutes left on the clock.

“We even had a great chance to win it late on but Dave Parkinson was denied by a last-ditch tackle after rounding the goalkeeper.

“We have to take the positives though and we can’t let a wonder strike that would normally go flying over the bar 99 times out of 100 take that away from us.”

On Saturday, Rovers enjoyed a great 4-1 victory over Fleet Town as they ended a winless streak of six games.

Tommy Hull’s fine 55th-minute solo effort was cancelled out by a contentious Craig Davis penalty seven minutes later.

But Rovers upped the pressure and won out with a Luke Knight rocket and a brace from Case.
