Luton U21s enjoyed a 2-1 win over Brentford B in their friendly clash at Bisham Abbey this morning.

Picking a youthful side, with a number of U18s on the bench, it was the hosts who threatened first, with Town keeper Jameson Horlick on hand to deny Gustav Mogensen after eight minutes, following a good link-up play with Aubrel Koutsimouka.

Moments later, Hatters opened the scoring when attacker Dion Pereira continued his impressive form in recent weeks with the opening goal from close range.

The Hatters back-line did well to clear another Koutsimouka cross, but the Bees levelled with 33 gone when Horlick saved from Wraynel Hercules only to see Mogensen convert the rebound.

After the break, Brentford's Ben Hockenhull was shown yellow for a foul on Town's trialist, as Luton pressed for the lead once more, Pereira's curling effort saved by Ben Winterbottom.

The Hatters were in the ascendancy, TQ Addy forcing a terrific stop from the home keeper, although Horlick had to be alert to prevent Mogensen doubling his tally.

Just after the hour mark, Luton had the lead once more, Sam Beckwith on target.

Brentford threatened another equaliser as Koutsimouka headed narrowly over from a Stevens cross.

With 12 minutes to go, Bees were reduced to 10 men as Hockenhull was shown a second yellow card.

The hosts almost snatched a late equaliser, Valgeir Valgeirsson unable to loft the ball over Horlick as the Hatters held on.
