Benson has seen 10 new signings join the Hatters so far, with 15 exiting the club as well and further departures planned.

On the new additions that Still has managed to bring in, Benson said: “I’m massively impressed.

“Some of the players that have come in have done it at levels higher than the one we’re at the moment.

“If they can adapt to League Two, which I’m sure they can, they we’ve got to be confident we can go one better than last year.”

Two of the signings Benson knew already from his time at Dagenham & Redbridge, with winger Danny Green and centre half Magnus Okuonghae putting pen to paper.

He continued: “It’s always nice to have players who have got quality and Dan’s got that

“He’ll help all the lads, not just myself with the balls he can put in, but his all-round game will help everyone in the squad.

“With Magnus, he’s big, strong, done it at this level before and the level above.

“He can add something we perhaps haven’t got at the back, that big, strong centre half who can head everything away.”
