Bold second half display pays off for Potts

The 21-year-old was given a start in place of the rested Scott Griffiths, but adopted a cautious approach in the first period, often taking the safety first option when in possession.

Some words from Still during the break saw the shackles lifted in the second half though, as Potts became far more of an attacking threat, eventually winning the penalty for Cameron McGeehan to equalise.

Still said: “Dan’s not had a lot of football and we were just encouraging him to try not to worry abut losing the ball in their third.

“Be bold and in the second half he was bold, very bold.

“I’m pleased for Dan as he’s had a difficult time since he’s come in.

“He had a little knock in pre-season and another little knock since.

“Second half I think he pushed on and provided us with a little bit of impetus.”

Meanwhile, goalscorer McGeehan was impressed with his team-mate’s display, adding: “Pottsy did well in the second half, he built into the game.

“I think he’s been unlucky not to have many games as he’s been injured, but it was a good run for him and he’s got that in his locker.

“He’s very good going forward and it’s good to play with him. He’s a really good player and if he keeps playing he can set up more goals, as he set up the goal on Tuesday against Gillingham too.”
