Former Luton Town loanee Luke Bolton has labelled his time with the Hatters as a 'whirlwind' year after his loan spell from Manchester City ended this afternoon.

After being signed on deadline day in August last year along with Izzy Brown and James Bree by previous boss Graeme Jones, the 20-year-old made his debut in the 3-1 EFL Cup win over Ipswich Town..

His Championship bow came at Sheffield Wednesday in the 1-0 defeat, as the England U20 international went on to feature 24 times in the league, making 10 starts, while also playing in three more cup fixtures.

Bolton finished with 28 appearances for Luton, before the club decided against extending his loan until the end of the campaign this afternoon.

Writing on Twitter, Bolton said: "One whirlwind of a year, sad to say goodbye.

"Thanks to the lads for welcoming me in & making me feel part of the club.

"Massive shoutout to the fans for your support, it makes a great difference.

"Keep fighting @LutonTown!

"All the best, Bolts."
