Brabin hails hard-working Hatters after Tamworth brushed aside

HATTERS manager Gary Brabin paid tribute to the work-rate shown by his side in their 3-0 win over Tamworth this afternoon, writes Mike Simmonds.

The visiting Lambs had drawn at Conference table toppers Fleetwood Town and beaten play-off hopefuls Cambridge United in their last two away games, while also only went down 2-0 to Premier League Everton in the FA Cup earlier in the year.

But once Stuart Fleetwood had put Luton ahead on 14 minutes with his 10th of the season, there was only one winner, confirmed by goals from Janos Kovacs and Tamworth defender Francino Francis in the second half.

Brabin said: “Tamworth have risen their game whenever they’ve played big opposition. They got through to play Everton in the cup and did well, got a good result away at Fleetwood last week and made it tough for us, but I think we rose above that.

“We never gave them much time on the ball. We frustrated them, pushed them to where we wanted them to be. I thought it worked well for us and limited their threat on us.

“They were a threat on set plays but we coped well and there’s a lot of stuff which wasn’t easy on the eye and that people might not notice, but after the game I was delighted with the performance.

“I thought the lads played really well, we looked sharp and complemented each other on the ball.”
