Brabin pays tribute to Pearcey

TOWN Manager Gary Brabin has paid tribute to radio commentator Ian Pearce, who tragically died last week at the age of 56, writes Mike Simmonds.

The club will hold a minute’s applause before tonight’s home clash with Kettering Town at Kenilworth Road, and Brabin spoke in glowing terms of the BBC Three Counties presenter in his press conference prior to the trip to Kidderminster Harriers on Friday.

He said: “It’s a really sad time. When I heard, I was gutted and speechless to be honest for a good half an hour or so.

“In the short time I knew him, he was a real, real character and I was was absolutely gobsmacked.

“Only the last few weeks I’ve realised what a legend he was round here. He was well thought of and I always had a laugh and a joke with him. Numerous people have spoken up since its happened to show how much they thought of him.”
