Brabin ready for Histon test

HATTERS boss Gary Brabin has urged his side to be wary of a Histon backlash when the two sides meet at the Glass World on Monday afternoon, writes Mike Simmonds

The Stutes, managed by former Hatter loanee David Livermore, are bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier, with their relegation to the Blue Square South long since confirmed.

Hatters trounced their near-neighbours 5-1 back in November, but Brabin is expecting Town’s hosts to raise their game as per usual.

He said: “I think everyone, no matter what, want to play Luton. They’re the Man United of the league, rightly so. It’s a great club and people want to play and impress against. Lots of teams don’t have a lot to play for, but we’re expecting a tough game.

“They’ll want a little bit of revenge and pride back. People say if you have nothing to play for, there is no fear and no pressure. We’ll be going there and the lads will be professional.” Asked whether he would rest a few players with the play-offs now secure, Brabin continued: “I think what I did when I first got the job was to juggle the squad.

“I think its been evident I’ve been trying to rest one or two and give one or two a kick up the backside.”

Danny Crow and Freddie Murray are definitely out of the trip, but midfielder Keith Keane, who came off during the 3-0 win over Eastbourne on Saturday could be fit.

Brabin added: “We’ll have a look at him. We took him off as a precaution as the last thing we want to do is risk another injury to him.”
