Hatters skipper Sonny Bradley feels like his side owe Preston North End a slice of revenge when they host their Championship opponents at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

Back in December, Luton went down to a 2-1 defeat at Deepdale, conceding a late winner to ex-Town striker Jayden Stockley.

It was a game they should have got at the very least a point from after a decent display, which is something that still clearly rankles with Bradley, as he said: “In the reverse fixture we feel like we should’ve won that game.

“But the way things were going at the time, Harry (Cornick) misses a one-on-one and, all of a sudden, there’s a chance at the other end, it’s a scrappy goal they scored, they go off and beat us 2-1.

“Next week, we feel like we probably owe them one and it’s a game we want to win.”

Although Town have struggled for the majority of the season, sitting second bottom in the table, they have registered seven wins in front of their own fans and are currently unbeaten in three.

Bradley knows that should give his side cause for optimism, continuing: “For the majority of the season at home I think we’ve been really good.

“The results might not reflect that but I think we’ve been competitive in most games we’ve played.

“The ones that we have lost, alright, Hull beat us 3-0, it was never a 3-0 game, but apart from that they’ve always been really close games.

“We’re always going for the win, we know we can win games at home with a certain level of performance.

“Now we’ve found a way of gaining points away from home, so it’s about getting the balance right in both home and away fixtures.”

Saturday’s goalless draw at Wigan saw Town up to 35 points for the season from their 37 matches.

In the two previous campaigns, Luton would be almost safe with totals of 41 and 42 required to finish above the dotted line.

However, Bradley knows that tally just won’t cut it this time, adding: “I look back at last season’s table and if you got 41 points, you stay in the division.

“This season it’s clearly going to be a lot more than that.

“There’s nine games left, let’s pick up as many points as we can and let’s stay up.

“How many points are we going to need? I’m not sure yet.

“We just focus on ourselves, focus on the next game and take it from there.

“If we beat Preston it’s four points in two games and they’re the sort of results that we’ll need from now until the end of the season.

“There’s still nine games left and if we win the majority of our games we will stay up in the division, there’s no two ways about it.”
