Hatters full back James Bree can’t wait for the opportunity to test himself against the potential superstars that could grace Kenilworth Road next week when Premier League giants Manchester United are in town next Tuesday.

Although the Red Devils might not field a completely full strength side for the third round tie, manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has a squad packed full of internationals that he could look to give some valuable game time against the Hatters.

With the contest live on Sky Sports, Bree said: “We can look to Man United next week, that will be a really good experience and hopefully we can move on to the next round after that.

“Even if they don’t put out the full team, there’s still going to be a few big names in there and it’s always nice to test yourself against top Premier League talent.

“I haven’t really played against any top Premier League teams, so it will be nice for me to test myself against them and see how it goes.”

Town made it through to face the Red Devils after defeating Reading 1-0 on Tuesday night thanks to Jordan Clark’s excellent first half header.

Even though Luton had carrot of the glamour third round tie in front of them, Bree didn’t think it affected them during the contest.

He continued: “You’ve just got to get the job done first, see Reading out, and I didn’t feel like they were going to score at any point.

“I thought we were really solid and we didn’t really let them have any chances and defended really well.

“We didn’t really know what team to expect, but with Man United in the next round, the lads who haven’t played just wanted to come in and give 100 per cent and do it properly.

“It was another good 1-0 win, and we've really got a winning spirit at the minute, so it’s good to keep that going."

The goal when it came was a superb effort from summer signing Clark, who rose impressively to power home Rhys Norrington-Davies’ cross from the left.

It had been Town’s full backs on both sides who were the main creative outlets during the night, with Bree himself setting up two excellent chances for Danny Hylton that went begging.

The former Villa and Barnsley defender added: "I couldn’t believe it, he was floating in the air for a couple of seconds, a really good header and an even better cross.

“That’s just the way it goes, I was dying for someone to get on the end of mine, it just wouldn’t go in and then Rhys bangs one in and it’s a goal, but we’ll take it as it comes.

“It was good to kick off where I was last season, as I started to add that to my game, getting up and down and getting crosses into the box.

"If Hylts had his shooting boots on he could have had two or three, but it’s just how it goes.”
