Buckle expects Magpies to come at Luton as players can secure their futures

The Blue Square Bet South team’s manager believes his side gave Luton too much respect on Saturday as they fell to a 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Kenilworth Road.

The pair are set to meet for a third-straight time within a week and Buckle is expecting the Magpies to show more attacking intent than compared to the weekend.

He said: “I think they might go for it a bit more. I think by their manager’s own admission they probably paid us too much respect in terms of sitting off us. And when I’ve looked back on the DVD they didn’t have a shot on our goal, first 45 minutes, not one.

“We really were the dominant force in the game, the thing we didn’t do was get further ahead first half.

“We’ll have our normal set-up, our normal gameplan, which will be to win the game, which will be to cause them problems, but I think they might just open up and try and come at us.”

Dorchester are set to welcome back former League striker Richard Logan who was cup-tied on Saturday and Buckle believes there is not that much of a difference between the sides.

He said: “I think they’re a good side, I think they’ve got lots of ex-League players playing in their team and like I said to all of you before the gap isn’t that great, there’s not a massive gap at all, they are only one league below us.

“And they’ve proved already that they are a solid outfit, but so are we. We’ve been ultra professional in both games and that will continue tomorrow night.”

With the Hatters likely to make a number of changes, Buckle believes it’s a chance for his players to show that he won’t need to strengthen when the transfer window reopens in January.

He added: “It’s not that far away. You’re talking about a critical time January, it’s a big time in terms of who you let out, who you bring in.

“And all of these games now will sort of make my mind up where we need to strengthen or whether it needs to stay the same.

“It is down to the players. The players know that. They know that when they get their opportunity, whether they’re strikers, midfielders or defenders, they know they’ve got to take it, that’s a big part of football.

“We’re setting them up right, we feel we’re in a good place, and they’re all looking good in training, which is a good thing for me because if I want to change it I can feel really comfortable that it’s the right thing to do.”
