Buckle warns Carney to shape up or ship out

Out-of-favour youngster Newman Carney is in the last chance saloon with Town manager Paul Buckle after being sent on loan to Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division side Kettering Town last week, writes Mike Simmonds.

The teenager was once highly thought of at Kenilworth Road, and almost signed for Premier League Norwich City after a trial period, only to see the move break down.

He recently signed a one year deal with Town, but his attitude since returning to training has dismayed Buckle, who has urged Carney to take a leaf out of the Team GB stars at the Olympics if he wants to have any future at the club.

If Carney does pull his finger out then Buckle will welcome him back to the fold, as he has already shown he is more than happy to give youngsters a chance in the first team and pointed to the example of JJ O’Donnell, who has recently broken into the team.
