Byfield believes Tamworth can go one better at Kenilworth Road

Last year’s goalless draw at Kenilworth Road has given Tamworth the belief they can pull off another shock against the Hatters at Kenilworth Road this weekend.

Tamworth player/coach Darren Byfield believes the Lambs on draw on that result at the relegation-threatened Midlanders look to go one better if this weekend’s game goes ahead.

He said: “Luton are doing very well and they are a strong side, there’s no question about that.

“They have a big budget though and so you would probably expect them to be challenging towards the top.

“But we went there last season and put in a good performance and got a result and there’s no reason why we can’t do the same again this weekend.

“I think we go there in a confident frame of mind. I feel that we can get something at Luton and we have to believe that we can pick something up there.

“I think all the lads are looking forward to it.”

And Byfield is looking forward to playing in front of a bumper Kenilworth Road crowd.

He added: “Of course, every game you play is important and you should always be up for them.

“But there’s no doubt that it’s an added bonus when you play at the bigger grounds, in front of the larger crowds.”
