Norwich City have confirmed their appeal for midfielder Kenny McLean’s red card during their 1-0 defeat to Luton Town last night has been dismissed.

The Scottish international was shown a straight by referee Oliver Langford just after the hour mark, as with his side trailing 1-0, he clashed with Hatters defender Tom Lockyer at a corner, appearing to clearly strike Town’s centre half on the side of the head.

After opting to challenge the decision, lodging a claim of ‘Wrongful Dismissal and Clearly Excessive Punishment’, the Canaries found out his afternoon it had been unsuccessful.

A statement on the City website said: “Norwich City can confirm that the club’s appeal to overturn the red card shown to Kenny McLean during the recent Sky Bet Championship game against Luton Town has been unsuccessful.

“The appeal was dismissed by The FA and the Scotland international midfielder will now serve a three-game ban for violent conduct.”
