Clark knows Luton have to keep 'on fire' ex-Hatter quiet
League One: Peterborough United v Luton Town
Midfielder Jordan Clark knows Town will have to keep ‘on fire’ ex-Hatter Joe Taylor quiet this evening when he leads the line for Huddersfield Town.
The 23-year-old moved to Kenilworth Road in January 2023, but only made 19 appearances over two years, with one start, although did score in the Championship play-off final penalty shoot-out victory over Coventry City at Wembley. He had prolific loan stints at Colchester and Lincoln City, moving to the Terriers for an undisclosed fee in January 2025. There, Taylor struggled to break in at first, borrowed by Wigan Athletic last season, scoring 11 goals in 22 outings, including the winner in a 1-0 success over Town.
However, he is in red-hot form for Huddersfield this season, scoring nine goals already, including four in his last six matches, as his side moved top of the table recently, and like Luton, have won their last four games in a row. Clark, who was in Bedfordshire with Taylor, said of the striker, and taking on their high-flying opponents: “It will be the toughest one so far this season.

"They’re at the top of the league for a reason, so credit to them. We know Joe Taylor who’s on fire this year, we’ve got to keep him quiet as he’s a danger. They’ve got a couple of other players, but the staff will figure out a gameplan to beat them. We’re in full confidence at the minute and we’ll just go there, keep trying to play, better than we did today (against Peterborough), but the last five, six weeks, what we’ve built on, take it there and hopefully come away with the three points.”
Clark unsurprisingly remains in the team that boss Jack Wilshere has selected at the Accru Stadium, although there are three changes, captain Kal Naismith back from illness for Joe Johnson, with ex-Terriers striker Nahki Wells and on-loan Tudor Mendel both returning for Callum Marshall and Jake Richards, the trio all dropping to the bench.
