Cohen believes Luton can head to leaders Canaries 'full of confidence' after back-to-back wins

Luton first team coach Chris Cohen insists his side can take a positive approach to their clash at runaway league leaders Norwich City this afternoon.

The Hatters go the the joint in-form team in the division with Barnsley, as the Canaries made it six successive wins on Wednesday night, beating promotion rivals Brentford 1-0 to go 10 points clear at the top of the Championship.

However, 24 hours earlier, Town were themselves registering back-to-back victories as Ryan Tunnicliffe’s goal was enough to beat Nottingham Forest, making it seven points out of nine for Town, following a 1-1 draw with Millwall too.

On today’s encounter, Cohen said: “It’s a lovely game for us, because if we came off three defeats in a row then it becomes a real tough game for us.

"But the result on Saturday and the result tonight (Tuesday) means we can go there and be really, really positive.

"We might not be able to go as offensive as we’ve done tonight, because of the form that they’re in and their style of play, but we’ll try to put a plan together and the players just try and implement everything they’re asked to do.

"We’ve got some good footballers who can hurt anyone in the division and Norwich are included in that.”

Not many would have expected Town to be such a healthy position following the half time whistle against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, as Luton swapped ends trailing 2-0 and potentially starting to look nervously looking over their shoulders.

However, a second half fight back before triumphing at the City Ground for the first time in over 35 years, means the Hatters can begin looking up once more, as Cohen continued: “If you had said we were going to go to Norwich on the back of two victories at 3.45 on Saturday afternoon, I’m not sure many people would have believed you.

"It’s been a brilliant three days, four days, a great start to the month which we always look at, our fixtures in month.

"We go to an incredible team, but we go there full of confidence where we hope to pick up a positive result.”

Luton had kept the same 11 who had turned round the game against the Owls on the Saturday for the trip to the Reds in the week, which Cohen thought was only fair, adding: “It was really hard to change anyone from that performance in terms of the second half.

"The first half as the manager said, you probably could have taken most of the players off, but second half to man they were brilliant and they continued that.

"I spoke to a couple of people after and all the mention is how hard they work for each other, how hard they work for the team and that’s what gets you good away performances.

"They were able to do that and then we were able to show our quality at times as well.”
