Connolly demands a repeat showing from Town’s defence

Clean sheets will be the order of the day for Hatters defender Paul Connolly this season.

The experienced right back, who has played Championship football for Derby and Leeds during his career, said: “I’m a defender, so I do love clean sheets and if we can get them I’ll be happy.

“I defend the back post well and am a good talker along the line, I always have been.”

Town’s back line set a new club record last season for shut outs, after keeping 23 during their title win.

Although skipper Ronnie Henry has departed, while Connolly and Luke Wilkinson have come in, Luton didn’t look any less solid with a 1-0 opening day win at Carlisle on Saturday.

It’s not just the defensive side of the game that Connolly wants to show to the Kenilworth Road faithful either.
