Luton attacker Harry Cornick wants to head into the international break with a victory over Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow to make it three wins from their opening four Championship games.

The Chairboys have endured a tough start to life in the second tier, suffering three defeats from their first three fixtures, conceding eight and are yet to score, hammered 5-0 by Blackburn recently.

Luton had made the perfect beginning to their second season in the Championship, after beating the drop on the final day last term, until going down 1-0 at rivals Watford on Saturday.

After a run of seven matches in 29 days, Luton have a welcome fortnight off following the contest, and Cornick wants that to be taken with a victory under their belt.

He said: “Every game in the Championship’s tough, but I think at home we can beat any team, so we’ve got to look at it as another three points up for grabs.

“If you can win three out of your opening four games and then we go to the international break with nine points, I think most people would snatch your hand off for that, so we’ll take that.

“It’s going to be important for us having a week to prep really, it gives us more time to recover and really look at the next game.

"We’ve got a week to train and work on our tactics more to decide how we’re going to beat Wycombe.”

Although Town saw their 100 per cent start to the campaign ended with two defeats last week, there was no disgrace in a Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United, plus losing to a Hornets side who were playing in the top flight themselves just a few months ago.

Cornick continued: “Two wins out of three (in the league) is a good return, we had two good cup wins as well.

“So it’s two losses on the bounce, but I think overall we’ve got to be quite happy with or start, especially with the way we’ve played.

“I think we’ve been brilliant up until now, today (Saturday) was a bit of a down day on performances as all our others have been really good so we’ve just got to bounce back really.”

Although Cornick has started all three of Town’s league games so far this term, he knows he has to keep getting better to stay in manager Nathan Jones’ thoughts going forward.

He added: “I think personally I’m trying to adapt my game, improve every day and if I can help the team in any way, I’m sure it’s beneficial.

“There’s back up everywhere, every player starting has got someone behind him who can come in and do better or do the same.

“So it’s always good to keep competition for places, but as a team we need to bounce back against Wycombe.”
