Hatters attacker Harry Cornick wants his side to set down some markers in their final three games of the campaign to make themselves a dangerous proposition to opposing teams next season.

Luton have made huge strides this term, turning from a side battling against relegation to being comfortably in mid-table and looking well set for a top 10 finish.

A run of four games without defeat and seven wins from 12 has seen the Hatters put real distance between themselves and the lower echelons of the Championship, as ahead of today’s clash with Middlesbrough, they can finish no lower than 14th in the table, with former top flight sides such as Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest unable to catch them.

On the possibility of ending up inside the top 10 following last year’s dramatic final day heroics, Cornick said: “It would be a great achievement.

"We've just got to take every game as it comes, as it’s a strange time now that we’re not playing for anything.

"Every year I’ve been here, we’ve been pushing for promotion in the last few games and we've got to win games, so it’s quite nice to have a relaxing run-in where it's not mental pressure and you’re thinking, 'what happens if they lose', watching every game, 'what happens if they win, and they win.'

"We’ve just got to take it game by game and build into next season really and if we can beat Middlesbrough on Saturday we get another three points and move up the table.

"It’s only going to hold us in good stead for next season and hopefully finish as high as we can.

"We’re not taking our foot off the gas, it’s not the end of the season by any means, we want to win every game.

"We’re going into Saturday wanting to win, and then into Rotherham and then QPR, we want to win all three games and finish as strong as we can as we believe we’re a top side.

"We believe we should be where we are if not higher and that’s what we’re going into next season with as we want to go in with the momentum that people go, 'hang about we played Luton Town at the end of last year and they were really good and they beat us last year, so it’s going to be a really tough game'.

"That’s what we want to go into next season with.

"So we’ve got to start now and keep playing every game like we need to win it."
