Cullen unfazed by Tangerines price tag

Striker Mark Cullen insists he is unfazed by the transfer fee that League One Blackpool splashed out to acquire his services from Luton Town.

The Tangerines stumped up £180,000 to sign Luton’s leading scorer from last season, but if anything, Cullen expects it to inspire him.

He said: “I’ve not really thought about that.

“They’ve spent that money on me and I want to repay the faith the club have paid in me.

“It’s not going to be on my mind or I won’t be worrying about that kind of thing.

“It does give you confidence as you know that they really want you, as they’ve had to pay money for you and you’ve not just come in on a free transfer.”

Although the Tangerines were a club in crisis last year, with a number of protests against chairman Karl Oysten, Cullen didn’t let that cloud his judgement.

He said: “As far as I’m concerned, I’m here to play football.

“If there’s stuff going on behind the scenes, that doesn’t massively affect me.”
