Cuthbert confident Hatters can see off leaders Plymouth

Town’s skipper for now Scott Cuthbert believes his side are more than capable of defeating league leaders Plymouth Argyle this afternoon.

The table-toppers travel to Kenilworth Road already 10 points above Luton, but Cuthbert thinks Hatters can cut that gap to seven by the full time whistle.

He said: “They’ll come here, full of confidence as they’re top of the league and I know the manager (Derek Adams), he’s a Scottish guy and done really well since he’s got there.

“It will be a tough game but we’re more than capable of matching anyone and beating anyone on our day.

“We just need to be confident we can get the three points.”

Despite the 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient in midweek and the 2-1 defeat to Crawley on Saturday, Cuthbert is impressed by Luton’s run of form going into the game.

He said: “What is that now, one defeat in seven, four wins and two draws?

“So it’s a good run of form and we’ve just been blighted a bit with the performance against Crawley.

“But we’ve put that to the back of our minds now, we’ve moved on, and we’ve improved on that.

“It’s just all about taking next game as it comes. They’re a strong side, they’ll fancy their chances against us, but we fancy our chances against them.”

Striker Jack Marriott was also confident of side’s ability to come away with victory, particularly on home soil.

He added: “We’re always strong at home and that’s why if we only get a point it’s not what we expect, we expect to win every single home match and away match for that matter.

“We’ve just got to stick with it, it will all come good and we’re looking forward to Plymouth, the league leaders, so it will be a good match.

“It might be a little bit open, I think both teams are going to go for it. We’re at home so we’ve got that advantage and hopefully we can come away with the three points.”
