Cuthbert swayed by Hatters’ ambition

New Luton Town signing Scott Cuthbert admitted it was the ambition of the club that helped seal his move to Kenilworth Road this week.

The 27-year-old became Hatters’ second acquisition of the summer on Tuesday afternoon, when it was announced he had penned a two year deal with Luton, after his contract at Leyton Orient expired.

Speaking exclusively to the News/Gazette about his decision to move, he said: “I did chat to some clubs in League One and different things maybe didn’t work out, but once again it was also the ambition.

“Did I want to go to a team who would maybe be a mid-table, bottom half of League One club?

“Or did I want to come down to League Two and go to a club that really could push on and challenge for promotion?

“That was an important part of the decision.”

Manager John Still definitely played his part in helping to persuade Cuthbert too, with the defender pointing to his track record of winning promotion at various clubs, including Luton.
