David Prutton delivers score prediction for 'gritty' Luton Town clash vs Cardiff City

David Prutton has predicted that Luton Town will lose their Championship clash with in-form Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

The Hatters picked up a valuable 1-0 win over Birmingham City at the weekend thanks to a first-half strike under Dan Potts.

That result keeps Nathan Jones’ men nine points clear of the relegation zone and ended a winless run of three matches.

By contrast, Cardiff have looked revitalised under new manager Mick McCarthy, and are unbeaten in their first five matches since the 62-year-old took over in the Welsh capital.

The Bluebirds beat Coventry City 3-1 on Saturday, and Prutton believes that they will enjoy similar success at Kenilworth Road.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: “I mentioned last week that Luton were slipping down the table and that gritty 1-0 win at Birmingham was much needed.

"They are still struggling front of goal, though, and consistency is required, too, though that's sometimes hard to come by in this division.

“What a start Mick McCarthy is having at Cardiff! The win over Coventry at the weekend made it 11 points from the 15 on offer since his arrival and has put them right back in play-off contention, which looked unlikely towards the end of Neil Harris' reign.

"Away win, for me.”

Prutton predicts a 2-1 Cardiff win.

Luton suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat when the two sides met back in November, and haven’t beaten City in the league since 2005.

Their last victory over the Bluebirds came in the League Cup in August 2019.
