Centre half discusses his reasoning for heading to Kenilworth Road recently

Town defender Gabriel Osho hopes that a change of scenery will spark his career into life after agreeing to move to Luton recently.

The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Reading, playing seven times for the first team last season, but turned down a new contract at the Madejski Stadium in the summer.

He was without a club for a few months until heading to Kenilworth Road, where his debut came against his former side who contained a number of Royals academy players on Saturday.

When asked about his first start and on his reasoning for the switch, Oshgo said: “It was tough as I’d been there for a long time, but there comes a time when you have to further your career and I think this was the right move to do so.

"You saw there were lot of the youngsters from Reading playing in the first team, so there are opportunities at Reading, but I think just sometimes a change of scenery can spark something in you.

“The way the manager spoke to me and told me he wanted me in, and what he could do for me and what I could do for the club, just really sold me, so that was why.

“I spoke to Nathan, he got me in, explained what he expected of me, what he wants from his players and as soon as he did that, it was a perfect match really.

“I thought this was the exact club I needed to be at for the next stage of my career, so hopefully I can just develop and help the club as I do so.”

Team-mate George Moncur was impressed by the defender’s first start for Town, adding: “We’ve got strength and depth in our squad and I believe in every player.

“I think everyone’s really good, so when players can come out, we’ve got players who can come in and do the same sort of job.

"It’s a great squad and I’m happy to be a part of it."
