Departing keeper believes it’s play-offs again for Luton

FORMER Luton goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington believes the Hatters are destined for the play-offs once more after they went down 1-0 to Barrow on Tuesday night, writes Mike Simmonds.

While Luton were suffering a miserable evening, leaders Fleetwood Town battered Ebbsfleet 6-2 to move 14 points clear, while Wrexham earned a 1-0 win at Kidderminster Harriers.

Pilkington said: “I think it’s play-offs unfortunately. I’d like to see Luton up there, but you’ve got to be realistic as well.

“Just being away from it now, you look at it and think there’s not much of a chance with it being 14 points now, it’s a massive ask.

“I was looking at Fleetwood. They went 1-0 down, but scored one, then scored another.

“They’ve got goals in the team, (Jamie) Vardy is unbelievable and got another worldie goal it would seem.”

If Hatters do make the play-off final at Wembley, then Pilkington will be present though this time in a supporting capacity.

He added: “Hopefully it will be third time lucky. If they get there, I’ll be there supporting them as a fan. Hopefully they will get in the league they deserve to be in and I wish Luton all the best to get promoted.”
