On-loan Luton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has backed himself to break into Leicester City’s Premier League team next term after completing a wonderful loan spell at Kenilworth Road.

The 22-year-old had a starring campaign with the Hatters after joining in October playing 40 times, with seven assists, creating well over 70 chances for the side too.

He also managed three goals, the last coming during Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at QPR in his final game for the club.

Manager Nathan Jones has confirmed he will do all he can to try and re-sign the midfielder next season, if another loan move can be agreed with the Foxes.

Dewsbury-Hall himself admitted recently that he would consider a move back to Luton if he can’t force his way in at the King Power Stadium, but on his future plans, he said: “As a Leicester player my goal is to break into the first team and secure a place there.

“I believe in my ability and I believe I can do that, but obviously you never know what’s going to happen in football.

“I know I’m going to give it my best shot at the start of pre-season to break into that team and we’ll see what happens from there.

“If that’s not the case then I might have to look at other options that I might have to go down.

“But for me now it’s just trying to progress and be the best version of myself going into the next couple of seasons because it’s been a fantastic season and I don’t want that to stall, I want to keep getting better and better.”

Looking back on his seven months with the Hatters, Dewsbury-Hall, who spent time on loan at Blackpool in League One during the previous season, believes this has been best term to date.

He continued: “I’ve got some absolutely fantastic memories and it’s by far my best footballing year so far.

“I know it’s been short, but this is the best of my career and it will be a year I’ll look back on for the rest of my career as my breakthrough season.

“It’s disappointing to finish on a loss, but I’m so proud of the lads and this football club for 46 games to be grafting week in week out in a really, really tough year.

“To finish in the top half of the Championship, I know not many people would have said that at the start of the season, it’s just a credit to everyone here.

“I’m so proud to be a part of that this season and I’ll cherish that for the rest of my career.”

Although Town finished with defeat at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on Saturday, Dewsbury-Hall thought they deserved more for their efforts, adding: “In the first half we were fantastic, we got the ball, we played out from the back, we found spaces on the pitch and we could have scored three or four.

“We were going in at half time pretty disappointed to be drawing the game if I’m honest, but second half wasn’t as good.

“There were a few tired legs out there, it’s a long season and the final stretch.

"So in the end we’re disappointed but we’ll look back on this as a fantastically positive season and next season can be even better.”
