Hatters midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is keeping everything crossed that he will be able to finally play in front of a crowd at Kenilworth Road next Wednesday evening when Norwich City are the visitors.

With Prime Minister Boris Johnson announcing that some clubs will be allowed supporters back into grounds for the first time since March earlier this week when the country comes out of lockdown on December 2, Luton is expected to find out later today just what tier it will be placed in.

If they are tier one, there could be 4,000 fans welcomed for the midweek fixture, while tier two means 2,000 can attend, although if they are deemed tier three, the match must still go ahead behind closed doors.

Chief executive Gary Sweet told the Luton News he sincerely hopes to be in either of the top two tiers, and Dewsbury-Hall, who has starred in Hatters' last two matches, now wants to do the same in front of as many Hatters fans as possible.

He said: “That would be fantastic, every player says how much it isn’t really the same without the fans.

"The fans sometimes are the 12th man and it’s really tough not having them here at the moment.

"So if there is any possibility they can come back, that will just be fantastic for us because we can’t wait to try and put on a show in front of the fans because it has been too long really.

"Hopefully that will be soon.”

If supporters are allowed back in, then Dewsbury-Hall believes they will witness first hand a Luton team playing an exciting brand of football this term, which has seen them spend far more time in the upper echelons of the Championship than nearer a relegation zone they only just escaped from last season.

After Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City, a game that Hatters had fully deserved to win, the on-loan Leicester City youngster added: “I hope the fans are optimistic and happy about the way we played because as I say, we are competing at a really good level in the Championship.

"We’re not here to be scrapping at the bottom of the table, we’ve got really big aspirations for this season and I think we are showing that.

"We’re not losing games, we should be winning a lot of games, more clinical edge in the final third and we will be winning games.

"That is going to come, the more we play together, it is going to click and the fluidity is going to keep coming.

"We’re really optimistic heading into the next few weeks.”
