The 28-year-old had been a regular for Bradford City in League One last term, playing in the Carling Cup final the season before that, until he was eventually released by the Valley Parade club.

Although Doyle now faces another campaign in League Two after triggering an extension to his contract recently, he said: “I’ve loved it. There’s not a day gone by when I think I’ve made the wrong decision, I made a great decision.

“I came to a big football club, Luton’s not a small football club.

“I was playing in League One, but Luton’s not a League Two club, we’re looking to progress it and take it further on than League Two.

“The gaffer was a massive part in that, he’s managed me well on and off the pitch.”

Doyle’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed by Town’s fans either, as he won the supporters’ player of the year award.

He also came runner-up in the News/Gazette Hatter of the Season vote and believes that Town’s failure to reach the top seven will make them stronger for the coming campaign.
