Drury wasn’t an option for Hatters

Hatters were never really in the running to sign former crowd favourite Andy Drury who joined Crawley Town last week following his release from Championship side Ipswich, writes Mark Wood.

The 29-year-old joined the League One club, where he has spent time on loan, but would have been welcomed with open arms at Kenilworth Road according to managing director Gary Sweet.

He said: “Andy knows we are here and will always be interested, but we didn’t make a move for Andy. Not only are we trying to get our house in order “He is a real quality player but he would come at a big price. At the end of the day if he wanted to come to Luton he would be knocking on our door.

“I know he has warm affection for us, but for a player of his stature it would be a tough call to come down.”
