Drury welcomes Keane’s return

Keane, who played 285 times during his near decade stay at Kenilworth Road, joined Crawley on loan from Preston last month.

Drury was in the same Luton side as Keane in his first spell at the club and admitted he was surprised the Lilywhites had let him go.

He said: “I still speak to Keano, he rang me up about going to Crawley and getting games, so I spoke to him a few weeks ago.

“He did very well at Preston and whenever I played them last year, he was probably their best midfielder, so I was quite surprised he wasn’t getting in their team.

“It will be nice to see him but hopefully we can get the win and go through.”

Keane has yet to feature against Luton since he left in July 2012 and on his return, Town boss John Still said: “I remember him at Luton, I saw him at Luton, he played very well in the game I saw.

“I also saw him at Preston and he’s a decent player. I don’t know if he’s been back since he left, but I’m sure he’ll look forward to playing again at Luton as I know he was held in high regard.”

Drury had spent 18 months at Crawley prior to moving back to Luton in the summer, but admitted the side had altered quite a bit since his departure.

He said: “There’s been a lot of changes and only a couple there from where I was there last time.

“Josh Simpson, Matt Sadler and Joe Walsh, plus Keano as well, so there’s a few boys who I can speak too.”

On what to expect against the Red Devils, managed by former Aston Villa boss John Gregory, Drury continued: “He likes his teams to press and get in your faces, show a lot of passion, so it will be a good test for us and see where we are.”
