Emotional Crow admits: ‘We’re letting you down’

EMOTIONAL Danny Crow admitted he and his team-mates are letting both the supporters and their boss down after Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at struggling Lincoln City, writes Mark Wood.

The 25-year-old netted his second goal in three games, but it was scant consolation for the upset striker as the Hatters again threw away a 1-0 lead at Sincil Bank.

He said: “It’s bitterly disappointing. All the lads are in there and just so disappointed.

“It just feels like we lost and is hard to take in.

“All the lads are in there talking to each other and people are saying what they think and it’s got to be said. It’s disheartening.

“We are letting everyone down as a team and it’s just horrible in there.

“It hurts. If the fans don’t think it hurts certain people it does. It’s a long way and once again the fans were all here and we are letting them down.

“You go to clap them at the end but you are kind of embarrassed. It’s just not a nice feeling.”

Crow admitted he’d have happily traded in his goal for a Luton win though, saying: “It is nice but it just doesn’t feel like you’ve even scored.

“It’s so frustrating. It’s nice to be back in the team and that but not to be winning games is the thing.

“All day long I would rather get assists or someone else score if we are winning games and that’s the God’s honest truth.

“I’m not a selfish person like that and I think all the centre forwards would be the same, as long as we’re winning we don’t really care. It’s nice to score but it feels like nothing at the moment.”

Crow also called on himself and his team-mates to show more resilience when ahead, as they have tossed away the advantage on numerous occasions this season.

He added: “First half we didn’t really play well but were 1-0 up. We had spells, Azza’s (Aaron O’Connor) goal, everyone is saying that didn’t go out of play. I didn’t think it was, I thought he was flagging for a foul. That’s in the past. Second (half) it’s always the same old story.

“We just didn’t seem to be able to keep the ball under pressure. We are a top team and not showing it.

“If you want to win the league you’ve got to be winning these games.

“Especially when you are in the lead as well. It’s a hard place to come anyway, they are a League club, but we should have won.

“No-one can put their hand on it. Second half, when you’ve got to keep the ball and put it in the key areas, as a team we are not doing it and it seems like we are playing as individuals.

“First half we did all right and second half played some good stuff.

“But when you are under the cosh no matter what game, whether you are playing someone that is down there, they will have a 15-20 minute spell where you have to absorb pressure, and we can’t seem to do it at the moment.

“It’s something we’ve got to work on because we are letting the gaffer and everyone down and we’ve got to look at ourselves.”
