Equaliser was a ‘sickener’ admits Money

HATTERS boss Richard Money admitted that Newport County’s last-minute equaliser on Friday night was a real sickener to his title-chasing side, writes Mike Simmonds.

Robbie Willmott had put Luton ahead with his first goal for the club, but new signing Paul Carden was penalised in the fourth minute of injury time and Jamie Collins converted the resulting spot kick.

Money said: “To lose the goal a minute over the four minutes, it’s a sickener, of course it is.

“I just said when Robbie was one-against-one with the keeper that I hope we don’t live to rue those (misses) and we had four or five real good chances in the second half to put the game to bed.

“When you don’t, you always leave yourself vulnerable to something like that happening.

“They didn’t expect the penalty, not on that incident that’s for sure. I thought he (the referee) had a good game and got almost everything right up until the 95th minute, which was a minute over the four minutes added time.”
