Everton reportedly face a 12-point deduction for allegedly breaking Premier League rules

Everton are reportedly facing the possibility of a 12-point deduction after allegedly breaking the Premier League’s financial regulations, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

The Toffees, who are currently on seven points from nine top flight matches, have been accused of breaching profit and sustainability rules after recording heavy financial losses.

Everton recorded financial losses of £304 million over a three-year period, well above the permitted amount of £105 million set out by the Premier League.

The case is being heard by an independent commission, with a final decision due to be made, but the Telegraph is reporting that the Premier League is recommending the punishment to be a severe one, up to a maximum of 12 points.

With Town having already won at Goodison Park this term, Rob Edwards’ side sit 17th in the table, one place and two points below Everton in the standings.

Everton insist they have complied with the rules, as if found guilty, the other punishments Sean Dyche’s side could face including a fine and/or a transfer embargo.
