Ex-Hatter James Justin tipped for senior England call-up after starring displays for Leicester

Talksport pundit Tony Cascarino believes former Luton Town full back James Justin will be ‘knocking on the door’ for a full England call-up very shortly.

The 22-year-old made 114 appearances for the Hatters, scoring six goals before a club record move to Leicester City in June 2019.

After featuring 18 times for the Foxes last season, he has stepped up a gear this term, playing 24 games already, netting a wonderful goal in the 4-0 FA Cup victory at Stoke City on Saturday.

Justin has played for England at U20 and U21 level, and is catching the eye not just at the King Power Stadium, as Cascarino, who won 88 caps for the Republic of Ireland during his career, thinks he will be interesting Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

He said: “You can be lucky sometimes in the type of manager you get.

"I feel he's been fortunate because Brendan wants his full backs to be aggressive and get into forward areas and be effective, and Brendan has the style of play which is attractive, he's always had exciting teams.

"If you look at the way they play, he ticks the box of a full back who wants to play in that manner, who wants to be adventurous and get forward and be dangerous.

"I think he’s just grown because he’s in a team that excites him and he always knows his options.

“One thing you do know as a full back, even if there’s nothing on, there’s always a ball just behind people that Jamie Vardy will get to so it’s a perfect set up for him to go to and play in a style that suits him brilliantly.

"If you said to me, Ben Chilwell (Chelsea defender) and James Justin, I might have gone initially, Chilwell is a far better player.

“It’s still early days for him, but he’s quicker than Chilwell, he’s better, I think he’s got a bit more.

“Chilwell is very good offensively as well, but he’s certainly going to be knocking on that door and Gareth is going to be looking at him and thinking, ‘we haven’t half got some good full backs in this country, we really have.’
