He eventually left to join Tranmere Rovers in October 2015, before a spell at York City, until joining Albion last week.

On the move, McNulty told the official club website: "I had some offers to stay full-time but I chose to join Witton because two good friends are in charge, people I've known for more than 20 years.

"It's a good club with a good squad that I think can push for promotion this year. The management team are both very ambitious, as am I.

"I'm looking to make the transition into coaching and to pass on some of the experience I have gained over my career, so it was a good fit for both parties."
