Ex-Town defender Famewo makes Premier League debut for Canaries

Former Luton defender Akin Famewo made his Premier League debut for Norwich City during their 5-0 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday.

The Canaries, who had already been relegated from the top flight, were well beaten when Famewo entered the fray, replacing Kenny Mclean with a minute to go.

The 20-year-old left Hatters for Carrow Road in January 2019 and signed a long-term deal in November of the same year.

Famewo, who played 13 games for Town after coming through the ranks at Kenilworth Road, had featured three times for Norwich U21s in the Leasing.com Trophy this term, while also made 13 appearances during a spell on loan with Scottish Premier League side St Mirren.

Writing on Instagram about his Premier League bow, Famewo said: "Happy to have made my premier league debut. Season done. Now onto the next.

“I hope I can be a part of bringing the club back up to the prem where we belong.”
