The 21-year-old forward made his debut for the Cherries in 2009 aged just 16, and has scored twice in 22 games for the Dean Court club since.

Stockley has also spent time with Accrington, Leyton Orient and Woking, where he netted against Luton in the Conference, and speaking exclusively to the News/Gazette, Still said: “I’ve known him as a player for some time.

“He’s the type that we wanted, big strong, mobile, enthusiastic and the way that we play I think is ideal for him.”

Stockley was with Town’s League Two rivals Cambridge United earlier this season, but despite scoring twice on his debut against Carlisle, endured a frustrating time with the U’s, playing just a further three games.

The deal is expected to be done for a month to begin with and Still is hopeful he will feature in tomorrow night’s clash with Shrewsbury Town live on Sky.

With the January transfer window now open for business, the Town boss confirmed there are further attacking targets he will be pursuing.
